The Smart Medicine project from the University of Coimbra, developing an intelligent means for transporting drugs directly and exclusively to cancer cells and blood vessels that nurture the tumor, was distinguished by COTEC with the second place at the I2P® (Idea to Product Portugal).
This competition recognizes ideas with high commercialization impact. This smart nanotechnology was developed by researchers at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Center for Neurosciences of the University of Coimbra, giving a new hope for cancer treatment through increased efficacy and reduced side effect incidence.
